![]() ![]() Why, exactly, are people who are supposed to be reasonably intelligent so polarized? How can “intelligent” people believe such different things, including even what constitute facts? Intelligence does not seem to matter, and facts do not even appear much to change people’s views ( Pappas, 2021). The parties have become extremely polarized ( Rosenbluth & Shapiro, 2018) and it is not clear, with this level of polarization, what could be done to improve the approval rating. Congress has been gridlocked, which seems to have become a long-term feature of the Congress ( Binder, 2000). Congress’ approval level reached a low of 15%. Congress was 21% ( Saad, 2021), with approval depending in part on party (33% for Democrats, 22% for Independents, and 5% for Republicans). In October 2021, the average approval rating of this U.S. ![]() You have to be pretty smart, if not gifted, to gain admission to, and graduate from these highly prestigious institutions. Congress have Harvard degrees, 17 have degrees from the University of California, 14 have degrees from Stanford, 10 have degrees from Georgetown, 8 have degrees from Yale, and seven have degrees from Princeton ( Statista, n.d.).
